Overview

The Mathematics Department offers a variety of courses on several different ability levels to meet the needs of all students. Students in all classes will use technology to better understand mathematical concepts and application to real world events.

A strong understanding of mathematical principles and problem-solving strategies is vitally important for all students. Students need to exhibit computational competence and use the skills and concepts of mathematics as tools to understand and solve problems in order to be successful in our increasingly technological society.

Technology in the classroom is a rich environment. All mathematics classrooms are equipped with TI SmartView, an emulator for the handheld graphing calculator, and Geometer's Sketchpad, a dynamic geometry program that can visually support algebraic, geometric, and calculus topics. All students are required to use the graphing calculator. All geometry classes are scheduled into a weekly lab in Geometer's Sketchpad.

Visit each teacher's website for details about their courses. General questions regarding the program can be directed to Mr. Richard Becker, Lead Teacher in Mathematics 9 - 12. Visit the description of each of the courses offered in the Program of Studies.
