The LMHS English Department curriculum is built upon the premise that all students can learn and that all students need to become effective users of language, whether accessing that language through reading, speaking, listening or writing.Language development begins in the home and continues as a natural learning process at school in a stimulating, supportive environment. This learning is ongoing and individualized to meet the needs of a diverse student population. To survive and thrive in the 21st century, a student must learn complex skills in critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving, and use of language and technology. Our ultimate goal is to have every student become a lifelong learner and independent thinker.
